Banks Township Fire and Rescue has invested in both land and water rescue capabilities.

The Banks Township Fire and Rescue Department proudly serves our community with two fire stations, more than 20 dedicated members, and a strong tradition of service dating back to 1928. Today, the department responds to over 100 calls each year, providing fire suppression, emergency medical services, water rescue, including a dive team and public safety education.

Community Outreach

From teaching our children about fire safety to setting up the waterslide at the Ellsworth Pig Roast and hosting a haunted house each Halloween, our Fire Department shows just how much it cares about the community. Their dedication goes far beyond emergency response—they are an active, supportive presence in the lives of our residents year-round.

Burn Permits

Township residents wishing to burn brush generally need a burn permit. Residents in the Upper Peninsula and northern Lower Peninsula can visit Michigan.gov/BurnPermit or call 866-922-BURN to check whether burning is currently allowed by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
