Poverty Exemption Assistance Available

The assistance program is called HOPE (Home Owners Poverty Exemption). HOPE provides free help to homeowners with completing and submitting the necessary forms for poverty exemption applications.

In addition to poverty exemption assistance, the program also offers:

  • LUWA (Low-Income Water Affordability) Program assistance for qualifying municipalities

  • Tax preparation support, including help with the Property Tax Credit and Home Heating Credit

  • Financial planning assistance, including help setting up payment plans to stay current on bills and help prevent foreclosure

These services are designed to help residents access available resources and maintain financial stability.

BANKS TOWNSHIP ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

To: The residents and property owners of Banks Township, Antrim County, Michigan and any other interested persons.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Zoning Board of Appeals of Banks Township will hold a meeting and public hearing on Thursday March 19, 2026 commencing at 6:00 p.m., at the Banks Township Hall, 6520 Center Street, within the Township, to consider the following:

  1. Appeal of zoning administrator decision by applicant Bob Slaski for property located at 14943 Timberlane Drive in Banks Township.  The appeal of the zoning administrator’s decision is brought pursuant to Article X, Section 10.03 of the Banks Township Zoning Ordinance.
  2. Such other business as may properly come before the Zoning Board of Appeals at said hearing.

PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that all persons are invited to attend and participate regarding the above request.

PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the appeal application and Zoning Ordinance can be reviewed by contacting the Township Clerk and will also be available at the public hearing.  Written comments may be submitted to the Township Clerk at the address set forth below up to 12:00 p.m. on the date of the public hearing and will further be received by the Zoning Board of Appeals at the time of the public hearing.

Proposed Flood Hazard Determinations for Antrim County, Michigan (All Jurisdictions)
The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency has issued a
preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM), and where applicable, Flood Insurance Study (FIS)
report, reflecting proposed flood hazard determinations within Antrim County, Michigan (All
Jurisdictions). These flood hazard determinations may include the addition or modification of Base Flood
Elevations, base flood depths, Special Flood Hazard Area boundaries or zone designations, or the
regulatory floodway. Technical information or comments are solicited on the proposed flood hazard
determinations shown on the preliminary FIRM and/or FIS report for Antrim County, Michigan (All
Jurisdictions). These flood hazard determinations are the basis for the floodplain management measures
that your community is required to either adopt or show evidence of being already in effect in order to
qualify or remain qualified for participation in the National Flood Insurance Program. However, before
these determinations are effective for floodplain management purposes, you will be provided an
opportunity to appeal the proposed information. For information on the statutory 90-day period provided
for appeals, as well as a complete listing of the communities affected and the locations where copies of
the FIRM are available for review, please visit FEMA’s website at
